Feathers fly at the iconic landscape of the Chanel runway show, the Grand Palais in Paris welcomes back the House after a four year break for renovations. Chanel presented its Spring/Summer25 collection, with a larger than life open bird cage at center stage. “It is an invitation to spread one’s wings,” stated the House. The simplistic yet awe-striking set represented a decorative piece that sat in Gabrielle’s apartment at 31 Rue Cambon.
In quintessential Chanel fashion, tweed stood strong per the usual, but an airy and light pairing of translucent capes created whimsical movement down the runway, while delicate feathers and fringe set the tone for the house theme. In an ode to the house traditional pieces, there was a variety of two-piece pant suits, detailed denim, and classic skirt and jacket sets in house staple black and white, as well as soft pastel hues. Still with no creative director at the helm, the design studio proved worthy of the Chanel femininity that attracts so many, wondering if they need a director at all.
Closing out the show was a stunning spectacle, a live performance by Riley Keough, the grand-daughter of Elvis Presley, singing a Prince rendition of “When Dove’s Cry.” She sat elevated on a high-flying swing within the bird cage, looking as ethereal and elegant as the show’s collection and its timeless beauty.
