Slightly “quirky”, but call it “innovative couture”, the ultra unique watch designer, MB&F agree to Chanel’s purchase of a 25% stake in their company. MB&F are known for their out-of-this-world designs and innovative creations such as watches that resemble animals like frogs, panda bears, and owls or even objects such as spaceships and cars. Yet these bizarre designs and high price points over $100,000, doesn’t stop them from having a wait list for some of their most desired pieces.
This purchase for Chanel continues to solidify their credibility in the luxury watch market. Much like others, such as LVMH, who are making a run for purchasing high stakes in watchmakers, Chanel is in it for the long game of investing in speciality know-how brands with high level expertise.
Chanel will have the first-right of refusal for any future stake sales within MB&F. Chanel already makes about 75,000 branded watches of their own in a year, so this partnership will surely help the brand elevate their already sophisticated designs
